On Time God

Today is Thanksgiving, and I have so much to be thankful for. For starters, I got to sleep until seven a.m.! That never happens! It's been a peaceful morning so far. My daughter and husband are home, and we're enjoying being lazy for the moment. But one of the things I'm most happy about today is that my ex-husband and his wife are coming from Virginia to spend the holiday with us.

As I look back on the years that have brought us to this place, I'm amazed at God's grace. Romans 5:20 says that "where sin increased, grace increased all the more". That has certainly been the truth for us. Five years ago, this could never have happened. Sin, betrayal, and unkindness were a mountain between us. But over time, God has taught us so much about what real love us and why it covers a multitude of sins. (1Peter 4:8) The more grievous the sin, the more powerful are acts of forgiveness become, and God's glory will shine through in unimaginable ways.

Timing is everything. Think about that. If a baby is born too soon, it won't survive. You could pick the winning lottery numbers, but if you play them the wrong week, you're out of luck. If you meet Mr. Right at the wrong time, you might as well not meet him at all. And sitting down to a meal with your ex-husband and his wife is probably not a good idea right after the divorce. But a few years later, in God's time, it can be a blessing beyond description and a testimony to the goodness of a miracle working God.

Remember Ecclesiastes 3:1-8-
For everything there is a season,
a time for every activity under heaven.
A time to be born and a time to die.
A time to plant and a time to harvest.
A time to kill and a time to heal.
A time to tear down and a time to build up.
A time to cry and a time to laugh.
A time to grieve and a time to dance.
A time to scatter stones and a time to gather stones.
A time to embrace and a time to turn away.
A time to search and a time to quit searching.
A time to keep and a time to throw away.
A time to tear and a time to mend.
A time to be quiet and a time to speak.
A time to love and a time to hate.
A time for war and a time for peace.

Wherever you are today, you are right where God wants you. God is never late. And He knows the desires of your heart. He knows what's best for you and when to give it to you. If you're waiting on Him for something today, trust in His timing. He may not come when you want Him, but He'll be there right on time. If you don't believe that, I'll post some pictures tomorrow from the Thanksgiving feast I'll be having with my ex-husband and our families tonight.

Father, thank You that You are never late. Thank You for Your perfect timing. If it were up to me, I would've ruined everything by now! Help me to trust in Your wisdom and wait on You for everything I need.

In His amazing love,
Amy
